Methods Design & Engineering conducts Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) assessments for manufacturing facilities under the GIZ ADVANCE Programme.

The assessments evaluate energy, water and material consumption, examine production processes, and identify opportunities to improve resource efficiency and environmental performance.

Combining on-site measurements, operational data analysis and international benchmarking, we develop technically and economically assessed improvement measures tailored to each facility.

Our assessment process includes:

• Factory Assessment. On-site inspections, equipment assessments, measurements and reviews of utility consumption and production data.
• Performance Benchmarking. Evaluating resource consumption and operational performance against relevant international benchmarks and best practices.
• Improvement Opportunities. Identifying engineering measures to improve energy, water and material efficiency, supported by estimated savings, investment requirements and payback periods.
• RECP Action Plan. Developing a prioritised roadmap of recommended measures to improve operational efficiency, reduce production costs and minimise environmental impacts.

Methods Design & Engineering provides Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) services to manufacturers, evaluating the environmental impacts of products throughout their life cycle.

For BMC Almasrya, a manufacturer of non-metallic composite manhole covers and rain grilles based in New Borg El Arab, Alexandria, we conducted the LCA and EPD process for its bulk moulding compound products, from data collection and impact assessment through third-party verification and publication.

Our scope included:

• Life Cycle Data Collection. Gathering and assessing data on raw materials, manufacturing processes, transportation and end-of-life scenarios.
• Life Cycle Assessment. Quantifying environmental impacts in accordance with ISO 14040 and identifying the main environmental impact hotspots.
• EPD Development. Preparing Environmental Product Declarations in accordance with the applicable Product Category Rules (PCR) and programme requirements.
• Verification & Publication. Coordinating independent third-party verification and registration in the International EPD System.

Methods Design & Engineering develops site-specific waste management plans for large-scale developments and multi-building facilities, addressing waste generation, segregation, storage, collection logistics, treatment and final disposal.

Our project experience includes the 31,350 m² Baheya Foundation Hospital campus in Sheikh Zayed, Egypt, and the 350,000 m² Governmental Complex in Saudi Arabia, comprising 82 buildings.
